Trimble SketchUp

Create and iterate 3D models for use in SketchUp

Play video

The SketchUp connector for Claude turns a conversation into a 3D model. Describe what you want to build — a room addition, a piece of furniture, a site concept — and Claude will generate models for you to open, refine, and share. No modeling experience required to get started.

Upon setting up the connector, ask Claude to create a SketchUp model from text prompts, images, or other inputs. Preview models in Claude or open them in SketchUp to evaluate, iterate, or manually modify. Iterate with Claude and SketchUp to refine model versions as desired.

You can use Trimble SketchUp to:

Model from a description:
"Build a SketchUp model of a 12x16 ft backyard shed with a gable roof and double doors."

Iterate on a design:
"Take that shed model and add two windows on the long wall, then save the new version."

Prototype furniture:
"Create a simple mid-century coffee table in SketchUp — 48 in wide, 18 in tall, walnut top."

Learn the API:
"Show me the SketchUp Ruby API docs for drawing a face from an array of points."
