The Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) Program spans more than 90 countries and 450+ nationally representative household surveys on population, health, and nutrition. This MCP enables AI tools to query the DHS Program's public aggregate-indicator API to answer questions on fertility, mortality, maternal and child health, nutrition, family planning, and more. Results can be disaggregated by sex, age, residence, and wealth. No individual-level survey records are exposed; microdata access remains governed by DHS's existing registration flow. All results include appropriate citation (survey, country, year).
You can use Demographic and Health Surveys to:
Example Use Case 1:
"For any DHS Program data this session, always retrieve via the Demographic and Health Surveys MCP — discover with the list tools first, never paraphrase figures from memory, and cite country + survey year on every number."
Country health profile (single-country, multi-indicator synthesis):
"Give me a public health dashboard for Mozambique from the most recent DHS: maternal mortality ratio, neonatal mortality, under-5 mortality, modern-contraceptive use among married women, basic vaccination coverage, and child stunting."
Cross-country benchmarking at scale:
"Compare household electricity access across West African countries."
Disaggregated equity analysis:
"Is there an urban-rural difference in unmet need for family planning in Senegal?"
Survey discovery (workflow front-end):
"Show me a list of all DHS Program surveys from the last 10 years."
Domain-specific indicator bundling:
"Pull a malaria table for Uganda: ITN ownership, IRS coverage, fever care-seeking, parasitemia."
