Check if a file was made with Claude

This tool runs in your browser. Your file never leaves your device. By using this tool, you agree to Anthropic’s Usage Policy (opens in new tab) and acknowledge our Privacy Policy (opens in new tab).

What the tool is

Upload a file to check for signs that Claude helped create or edit it. Knowing where content came from, and whether AI was involved, makes it easier to trust what you see online.

How it works

We check for a C2PA content credential: a record attached when a file is made or edited that shows what created or changed it. If we find one that points to Claude, we'll tell you here.

What this can’t tell you

A result indicates whether the content provided was processed by Claude. It doesn’t tell you anything about its substance.

A missing signal doesn't confirm content wasn't made with Claude. It could mean the signal was removed, or that the content was produced by a model, platform, or feature that does not support marking.

Read more about how this works and what it can't catch.

What happens to the file you upload

  • Your file stays on your device.
  • The checker only reads the embedded credential, not the file itself.
  • Your file is never stored or used for any other purpose.
