IDC Research (IDC), a global leader in technology intelligence for more than 60 years, worked with Anthropic to bring IDC Quanta into Claude, available to IDC customers today. IDC Quanta gives customers access to IDC’s trusted and validated forecasts, market data, research, and more, and now, they can ask questions in Claude to get answers enriched with IDC’s insights in minutes. IDC has also rolled Claude out across the company, where teams use it every day.

Applying market research has traditionally meant reading through long reports to get to the answers a customer needs, such as a vendor shortlist or a competitive brief. Now, an IDC customer describes the market, strategy, or purchase they're working on, and the IDC Quanta MCP connector for Claude returns finished analysis built on IDC's trusted forecasts and data.

What customers can do with IDC Quanta in Claude

IDC Quanta, an AI-powered technology intelligence platform that helps customers do better work, faster, with credible, verified intelligence from IDC’s proprietary data and research. In Claude, IDC Quanta enables customers to benchmark performance, size markets, choose vendors, and shape strategy. It’s as simple as a customer describing the question they're working on, and Claude answering it using IDC's intelligence.

The questions that users ask vary by role, but they tend to look like this:

  • Competitive briefs: A corporate strategy lead asks Claude for a competitor brief. Claude returns the competitor’s positioning, market share, product capabilities, and recent acquisitions, cited to IDC's research. A job that used to take a day’s worth of research is complete in minutes.
  • Vendor shortlists: A CIO evaluating procurement software asks Claude which vendors are the best fit based on her existing architecture and unique business requirements. Claude returns the top three by IDC's procurement database and MarketScape research as an Excel scorecard, ready for the evaluation team to act on.
  • Analysis of their own numbers: A CFO uploads next year's IT budget, and asks how it compares to IDC's forecast. Claude returns where the two differ, and by how much, while updated data stays private to the customer.

IDC Quanta works wherever the customer already uses Claude, including the Claude app on desktop and mobile, Cowork, and the Microsoft Office add-ins. It gives Claude the same data and definitions an IDC analyst works from, so a market share or growth rate matches what IDC would publish, and each answer cites the IDC document or dataset it came from.

How IDC uses Claude internally

IDC has also put Claude to work across the company, where its engineers, product, marketing and sales teams are using it daily to build, plan, and sell. A clear example of the difference it's making is in engineering: IDC's engineers rebuilt the internal data repository its analysts use for research in three weeks instead of an estimated three months, and since they began using Claude Code for testing, bugs in the code they ship have come down significantly.

Engineering was the first team to adopt Claude, and the rest of the company has followed. Here's how they're using it:

  • Building and testing software: Product managers use Claude Code to build working prototypes before engineering starts, which has cut the time it takes a feature to reach engineering from months to weeks. Engineers use it to run tests in parallel, and a code review that once filled five days is done in about 30 minutes.
  • Planning and strategy: Product teams give Cowork their research and internal files, and it writes the first draft of the plan. Planning sprints that took three weeks now take three days. Writing a new test to check that code works now takes about 20 minutes, down from days.
  • Optimizing sales: IDC's sales team runs a tool built with Claude that reads an export from the company's CRM. In minutes, it tells each rep which of their deals have stalled and which are worth chasing.
  • Producing marketing content: IDC's content marketing team built an assistant in Claude to draft much of its marketing content. It optimizes the content for search and AI answer engines (SEO/AEO), and checks it against buyer personas and IDC's own research. From there, the team edits, proofs, and publishes the work, publishing content faster than it could on its own

“Assessing the impact of a competitor’s acquisition used to mean a market intelligence professional spending hours pulling multiple reports, synthesizing the findings, and turning them into an executive-ready brief. Now, they can open Claude, ask what that acquisition means for their business, and get a board-ready analysis in minutes, grounded in IDC’s research and more than 15 billion data points,” said Lorenzo Larini, CEO, IDC. “We brought IDC Quanta into Claude because that’s where many of our customers already work, giving them a faster, more intuitive way to put IDC’s trusted data and research to work.”

“IDC has spent 60 years helping leaders make better technology decisions, and now it’s using Claude to rethink how its teams work and how it delivers value to its customers,” said Paul Smith, Chief Commercial Officer, Anthropic.
