Today, we’re introducing ready-to-use artifacts that legal professionals can adapt to how their teams work and share with colleagues across the business. Since we launched Claude for Legal in May, the most common requests from legal teams have been for simpler setup and easier ways to work with colleagues.

Artifacts are interactive tools, such as trackers and dashboards, that teams can use and share in Claude. Our new legal gallery includes artifacts for specific tasks, such as reviewing a stack of contracts, tracking regulatory changes, and taking in legal requests from the business. Each artifact opens with an example, so legal professionals can see how the work comes together before adding their own data and connectors. Each answer or output has a link to its source.

We are also funding public interest groups building artifacts for access-to-justice work and legal education programs teaching tomorrow’s lawyers to build with Claude, and we are starting a Legal Ambassadors Program so legal professionals can learn from each other.

With these artifacts, a legal professional brings their own documents and sources, Claude completes the first pass, and a lawyer applies their judgment to the results. They cover the work legal teams raised with us most often:

  • Cite check compares a legal document with its sources and flags quotes that don’t match, wrong page numbers, and sources that don’t support the claim.
  • Jurisdiction survey matrix compares a legal topic, such as data breach notice rules, across states or countries in one table, with links to the underlying law.
  • Matter board turns engagement letters, emails, or spreadsheets into one board of open matters, showing the owner, next step, and next deadline.
  • Playbook deviation board compares contracts with your company’s standard terms, flags each clause that differs, and sends it to the person who approves exceptions.
  • Regulatory horizon scan maps upcoming regulations on a timeline, based on your company’s business and where it operates, and ranks them by impact with links to the sources.
  • Tabular review builds a table from a set of contracts, showing the terms you ask about, such as severance or non-competes, with links to the exact language.

Tailored to how teams work and shared with guardrails

Every legal team works differently and artifacts work best when they’re connected to the systems legal teams already use. Legal professionals can ask Claude to tailor artifacts to their team and use connectors to bring in their playbooks or research sources, so nobody has to upload documents manually.

Since we launched Claude for Legal, we’ve added more than 60 legal connectors, including Bloomberg Law, Filevine, Ivo, Legora, and Patlytics. See our legal directory (opens in new tab) for the complete list.

Artifacts enable collaboration inside and outside the organization. A legal team can work on an artifact with colleagues across the business or with clients and partners, with sharing settings that ensure privacy and support ethical walls between teams.

We partnered with legal tech companies and law firms to build artifacts for legal professionals. Each artifact is in the gallery for legal professionals to discover, test, and adapt to their work:

  • AI Governance Benchmark built by Goodwin (opens in new tab) benchmarks a company's approach to AI governance to surface potential gaps.
  • Harvey Intake built by Harvey (opens in new tab) gives business users one place in Claude to send legal questions and requests, answering routine ones from Legal’s own guidance in Harvey and routing the rest to a lawyer, whose reply comes back in Claude.
  • Obligations Checker built by Foley & Lardner (opens in new tab) reviews agreements for the obligations of both parties and helps validate expectations pre-closing and track expectations post-closing.
  • Subpoena Response Tool built by PwC (opens in new tab) turns your team's precedents, standard objections and templates into automated, audit-ready first drafts so lawyers can focus on the complex issues while responding faster.

We are excited to see legal tech companies, law firms, legal aid organizations create and share their own artifacts, and have more artifacts coming from Legora and Orrick.

The gallery includes nine access-to-justice artifacts, five of which were built by nonprofit and public interest organizations we supported with Claude credits:

  • Criminal Charge Reality Check built by Zealous (opens in new tab) takes a criminal charge and shows defense teams the sentencing range, public data on how those cases usually end, and standard playbooks for release. New York only.
  • Immigration Papers Reader built by Mobile Pathways (opens in new tab) turns a client’s immigration paperwork into a plain-language first read of key dates and missing documents.
  • Rent Ledger Reviewer built by Rising for Justice (opens in new tab) helps attorneys find errors in a landlord’s rent ledger when preparing an eviction case. Based on D.C. law.
  • Record-Sealing Screener built by Rising for Justice (opens in new tab) helps attorneys assess whether a client’s criminal record is eligible for sealing. Based on D.C. law.
  • Record Clearance built by The Access Project (opens in new tab) helps legal aid teams work out whether a client’s record can be cleared under their state’s rules.

This builds on the Oxford Justice Innovators Programme, our 12-month program with the Oxford Institute of Technology and Justice and Microsoft that supports up to 10 innovators expanding access to justice.

We are also launching the Legal Ambassadors Program, a community for legal professionals who build with Claude to share their work and learn from each other. Join the waitlist (opens in new tab).
