The world now eats, lives and dies like we do in the U.S.

A great video by Dr. Dean Ornish that shows that as other countries begin to eat like us (the US) they also get our bad health problems. This video also refers to some BRFSS data.

Oklahoma City: "This city is going on a diet" says mayor Mick Cornett.

Oklahoma City was named one of the fatest cities in the US. So they have taken action and are going on a diet as a city. They created the web site www.okcmillion.com with dieting help. Along with the web site they are also building 300 miles of new sidewalks.

Velib - Commuter bikes in Paris.

Velib is a Paris bike rental program where you can rent a bike free for short trips (30 minutes or less) or just pay a small fee if you take it longer. You can rent a bike at one of many locations throughout Paris and then leave it at another location. Some people ride for 30 minutes then park it and get another one and just keep going for free. It's a great way to go small distances (a few miles or less) in Paris. Mayor Bloomberg has been to Paris to see the project with thoughts of putting it in New York.

Velib cycles in Paris -- 10,000 bikes you can share.

The Velib project is a designed to reduce cars and pollution. Plus also increase bike riding and physical activity. It is an attempt to make Paris even a better city and Parisians healthier with a better quality of life. It is a wonderful project. Some say that "over 10% of the entire Paris population is expected to ante up 29 for an annual subscription to the immensely popular program by year-end". This seems to me like a better idea than more SUV's.

How to build an Igloo:

I have always liked and admired igloos but didn't know the specifics of how to build one. This video provides great insight into many of the tips and tricks to build a real igloo. The video was made in 1949 by the National Film Board of Canada. According to the video the Inuit (new term for Eskimo) people building the igloo are from eastern Canada but they are building this igloo on the western shore of Hudson Bay. I love this video and want to get a snow knife and start building one.
